Religion and Volunteering: What Motivates People of Faith to Serve Thy Neighbor

This is a great summary article from ARDA on research that uses data from a number of sources. While the article doesn’t offer any surprises as to why people of faith tend to volunteer more, it does solidify what we might intuitively think would be the case — that beliefs, religious activity, and social networks play a role in increased volunteering for people of faith. Do these factors hold true for your own congregation? Do they hold true for the UCC in general?
